What counts as a channel?

Social channels are WhatsApp, Instagram, and YouTube. SMS via EZ Texting and Twilio is treated separately and is available on all paid plans regardless of your channel limit. The web widget does not count toward your channel limit on any plan.

Enterprise plan

Enterprise is a custom-priced plan for high-volume teams. It includes everything in Business plus:

  • Unlimited seats and conversations
  • SSO (SAML 2.0 / OIDC) for team login
  • Full audit logs with CSV export
  • Dedicated Customer Success Manager (CSM)
  • SLA and custom data-processing agreements
  • Priority support with a guaranteed response time

Upgrade or downgrade

You can change your plan at any time from the Billing page — no need to contact support. Changes take effect immediately and billing is prorated automatically.

Open the Billing page
Click Billing in the left sidebar.

Click "Upgrade plan"
On the current plan card, click Upgrade plan. A modal lists all available plans with a summary of limits and pricing.

Select your new plan
Choose the plan you want. You'll see a real-time proration preview showing exactly what you'll be charged (or credited) today.

Confirm the change
Click Confirm change. The new plan is active immediately — new limits apply right away.

Proration

When you upgrade mid-cycle, you're charged only for the remaining days on the new plan. When you downgrade, the unused portion of your current plan is credited to your next invoice. No manual calculations needed — the billing page shows the exact amount before you confirm.

Tip:Upgrading from Trial to any paid plan does not reset your 14-day trial clock — you simply gain full access immediately and billing starts from that day.

Downgrading

You can downgrade to a lower plan at any time. Be aware that if your current usage exceeds the lower plan's limits (seats, channels, or conversations), access to the excess resources will be restricted after the change takes effect. Specifically:

  • Extra agents above the new seat limit will be set to inactive — you choose which ones to keep.
  • Channels above the new channel limit will be paused — you choose which to keep active.
  • Conversation history is always retained regardless of plan.

Fair Usage Policy

Moxabot's plans are designed to be predictable. This section explains exactly how each limit is counted, what triggers a new conversation, and what happens when you reach a cap.

Monthly conversation limit

Each plan includes a monthly conversation allowance (e.g. 3,000 on Growth). A conversation is a single threaded exchange between a contact and your bot or team. Your limit resets on your billing anniversary date — the same day of the month you first subscribed.

48-hour session rule

If a contact sends a message after 48 hours of inactivity, a new conversation is opened and counted against your monthly limit. This rule applies across all channels — web widget, WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, and YouTube.

Note:The 48-hour window starts from the last message in the conversation (sent or received), not from when the conversation was opened. A quick follow-up within 48 hours stays in the same conversation and does not create a new one.

Seat limits

Each plan enforces a maximum number of seats. A seat is any active team member who can log in — including the account owner. Seat limits are enforced at invite time: if you're at your seat cap, the invite button is disabled until you upgrade or remove an existing member.

Channel limits

Channel limits apply to social channels only — WhatsApp, Instagram, and YouTube. SMS via EZ Texting and Twilio is available on all paid plans and does not count toward the channel limit. The web widget also does not count toward the channel limit.

AI replies cap

The AI will send a maximum of 50 automated replies within a single conversation. This prevents run-away loops and keeps costs predictable. After 50 AI replies in one conversation, the bot stops auto-replying and the conversation is escalated to an available agent. Manual replies from your team are never limited.

Trial limits

The free Trial has two independent limits — both must be satisfied for the trial to remain active:

  • 14-day time limit: The trial expires 14 days after signup regardless of usage.
  • 100-conversation lifetime cap: This is a hard cap. Once you've had 100 conversations total during the trial, the AI stops auto-replying even if the 14 days haven't elapsed. Manual replies still work.

Heads up:The 100-conversation cap is a hard limit — it does not reset and cannot be extended on the free plan. To continue using Moxabot after hitting this cap, upgrade to a paid plan.

Widget rate limit

To prevent spam and protect server performance, the web widget enforces a rate limit of 1 message per second per visitor. Messages sent faster than this are queued and delivered in order. Visitors are never shown an error — messages simply process at the capped rate.

Moxabot is designed to degrade gracefully when limits are reached — your team is never locked out.

Warning:When your monthly conversation limit is reached, new inbound messages are still received and stored in the inbox. Your agents can still reply manually. Only AI auto-replies are paused until the limit resets on your billing anniversary or you upgrade.

Payment method & invoices

Moxabot uses Stripe for all payment processing. Your card details are stored securely by Stripe — Moxabot never sees or stores your raw card number.

Updating your payment method

Go to Billing
Click Billing in the sidebar.

Click "Payment method"
Scroll to the Payment method section and click Update card.

Enter your new card details
A Stripe-hosted form opens. Enter your new card number, expiry, and CVC. Click Save.

Note:Changes to your payment method take effect on your next billing cycle. If your current payment method has already failed, updating your card will trigger an immediate retry of the outstanding invoice.

Viewing and downloading invoices

All invoices are available in Billing → Invoices. Each invoice includes a PDF download link and shows the plan, period, seat count, and any proration adjustments. Invoices are also emailed to the account owner automatically after each successful charge.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, Moxabot retries the charge over 7 days (day 1, day 3, day 5, day 7). During this window your account remains fully active. If the charge still fails after all retries, your account is downgraded to the Trial plan automatically and you receive an email notification. Upgrading again immediately restores your previous plan and usage limits.

Frequently asked questions

Can I try Moxabot without a credit card?

Yes. The free Trial requires no credit card. You get 14 days and up to 100 conversations to explore the platform. A card is only required when you upgrade to a paid plan.

Does unused conversation quota roll over?

No. Unused conversations from one billing period do not roll over to the next. Your quota resets on your billing anniversary date each month.

Can I add extra conversations without upgrading my whole plan?

Currently, Moxabot does not offer conversation top-ups or add-ons. To increase your conversation limit you need to upgrade to the next plan tier. If you're consistently hitting your limit, the next plan is usually more cost-effective than remaining on a lower tier.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data (conversations, contacts, Knowledge Base) is retained for 90 days after cancellation. You can export your data from Settings → Export at any time while your account is active. After 90 days, data is permanently deleted.

Is annual billing available?

Annual billing is available on Growth, Business, and Enterprise plans and comes with a 20% discount compared to monthly billing. To switch to annual billing, contact support@moxabot.com or reach out via the in-app chat.

I'm on Starter with 2 channels. Can I swap which channels are active?

Yes. You can disconnect an active channel and connect a different one at any time from Integrations. The limit is on simultaneously active social channels, not on which specific channels you use over the lifetime of your account.

Does the owner seat count toward the seat limit?

Yes. The account owner counts as 1 seat. On the Starter plan (2 seats) you can add 1 additional agent. On Growth (5 seats) you can have yourself plus 4 agents, and so on.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Billing → Plan and click Cancel plan. Your account remains on the paid plan until the end of the current billing period, then reverts to the free Trial tier. You won't be charged again. If you'd like a refund for the current period, contact support.
